A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE HENRIETTA CAMPBELL OF CLARENDON COUNTY ON BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR BY THE CAROLINAS ASSOCIATION OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVES AND TO THANK HER FOR HER WORK IN AND DEDICATION TO HER COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Henrietta Campbell was honored with the South Carolina Executive of the Year Award by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives at its annual banquet on Friday, July 20, 2001, in New Bern, North Carolina; and

Whereas, the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives was formed when the South Carolina and the North Carolina Associations of Chamber of Commerce Executives merged in 1994. The Executive of the Year Award is its most esteemed honor and is given each year to one individual from each state; and

Whereas, Henri Campbell is the Executive Director of the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce, and under her leadership the Chamber has thrived. She has helped in the creation and continuation of projects such as an anti-litter program, the promotion of tourism, and the Mural Task Force which includes long-range plans to have local citizens paint murals throughout the county; and

Whereas, Henri also works with the Education Committee of the Chamber, which awards five college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. The Chamber also recognizes the Teachers of the Year in Clarendon County at an annual Salute to Education Banquet and serves as the fiscal agent for Communities in Schools, a program which provides tutoring and mentoring programs to area children; and

Whereas, Henri Campbell knows how to get the members of the community involved. Chamber membership has increased forty percent since she became Executive Director, and attendance at the Annual Chamber Retreat has increased by one hundred percent; and

Whereas, other dedicated executives of the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce include George Summers, President; Jeffrey Black, President-elect; Dr. Scott Brown, Past President; and board members, Ann Kirven, W. Tommy Geddings, Jr., Michael Ouzts, Brett Frazier, Dennis Craven, Fin Coffey, Stacey McInnis, Joseph Witt, Cleve Dowell, John Bassard, and Alana Majors; and

Whereas, Clarendon County is fortunate to have such a wonderful person as a leader in the community, and the House of Representatives is proud to commend Henrietta Campbell on her receipt of this prestigious award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Henrietta Campbell of Clarendon County on being named South Carolina Executive of the Year by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and thank her for her work in and dedication to her community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Henrietta Campbell.
