A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE TWENTY-TWO SOUTH CAROLINA TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS NAMED TO SOUTH CAROLINA'S 2002 ALL-STATE ACADEMIC TEAM IN THE ALL-USA ACADEMIC TEAM COMPETITION FOR TECHNICAL COLLEGES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND JUNIOR COLLEGES SPONSORED BY PHI THETA KAPPA, THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND USA TODAY.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly note with pride the visit to the State House on Tuesday, March 19, 2002, of the twenty-two members of South Carolina's 2002 All-State Academic Team; and

Whereas, these outstanding students from South Carolina's technical colleges were chosen for this honor by the technical college presidents on the basis of academic performance, leadership accomplishments, and service to their colleges and local communities with no more than two members selected from a particular college; and

Whereas, the All-State Academic Team competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, to bring statewide recognition to outstanding technical college, community college, and junior college students; and

Whereas, these students were South Carolina's representatives in the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today; and

Whereas, their outstanding records make them worthy representatives of this State and are a reason for pride in their accomplishments that can be shared not only by them and their families, but all South Carolinians; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they may add their voices to the choruses of congratulations to these outstanding South Carolina technical college students. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their heartiest congratulations to the twenty-two South Carolina technical college students named to South Carolina's 2002 All-State Academic Team in the All-USA Academic Team competition for technical colleges, community colleges, and junior colleges sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each team member.
