TO RECOGNIZE HOLLI LYNN THOMPSON, MISS OCONEE FOR 2001, FOR HER YEAR OF EXEMPLARY REPRESENTATION OF OCONEE COUNTY AND OF ALL THAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT ITS CITIZENS.
Whereas, Holli Lynn Thompson, a native of Oconee County and graduate of Walhalla High School, has served with distinction as Miss Oconee 2001; and
Whereas, her year-long reign as the representative of Oconee County was highlighted through her community service, religious faithfulness, and academic diligence - all that is special about the people of Oconee; and
Whereas, she served as captain of a team of pageant contestants in the Relay for Life, raised funds for the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic, and served as a mentor to three young girls who traveled with her as she performed over one thousand hours of community service, showing them the value of volunteerism; and
Whereas, her involvement in her community garnered statewide awards for her and was a model for other youth; and
Whereas, through her passion for children, she has made significant impact on the lives of many young people across the county and State with her church and school programs promoting self-esteem, character education, and creative learning skills; and
Whereas, she is an active and faithful member of College Street Baptist Church in Walhalla where she has also taught Sunday School; and
Whereas, Holli Lynn Thompson is currently a junior at Clemson University majoring in elementary education so that she might continue her positive impact on this state's children; and
Whereas, she has brought honor and recognition to Oconee County, always presenting herself with dignity and integrity. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the South Carolina House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize Holli Lynn Thompson, Miss Oconee for 2001, for her year of exemplary representation of Oconee County and all that is special about its citizens.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Holli Lynn Thompson.
