EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF MS. JOHNNIE RUTH JENKINS OF BARNWELL COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Ms. Johnnie Ruth Jenkins of Barnwell County has passed away; and
Whereas, Ms. Jenkins was known for helping everyone in need and for her dedication to the Civil Rights Movement; and
Whereas, she was instrumental in founding the Salkehatchie Community Action Agency and worked at Community Action in Barnwell; and
Whereas, she was respected, admired, and loved by everyone who knew her; she was a true humanitarian and will be missed greatly, but she leaves a legacy of care, compassion, and leadership that will live on forever. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses profound sorrow at the death of Ms. Johnnie Ruth Jenkins of Barnwell County and extends deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Ms. Jenkins.
