A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-1-105 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A SPOUSE, CHILD, PARENT, BROTHER, OR SISTER OF A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FROM BEING ELECTED TO AN OFFICE WHICH IS ELECTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 2-1-105.    A spouse, child, parent, brother, or sister of a member of the General Assembly is not eligible for an office which is elected by the General Assembly."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
