A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING LATTA HIGH SCHOOL ON WINNING THE CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOYS BASKETBALL FOR 2002.

Whereas, Latta High School captured the Class A State Championship in boys basketball for 2002 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia; and

Whereas, the Latta Vikings defeated Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School 93-78 for their second consecutive state crown and finished the 2002 campaign with an amazing 28-3 record; and

Whereas, the Vikings guided by Steven Smith, Head Coach, exhibited talent, skill, hard work, poise, and unity throughout the season on their way to the state championships; and

Whereas, a state championship in basketball is a marvelous achievement, and we are delighted to be able to recognize the Latta Vikings in this special way. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Latta High School on winning the Class A State Championship in boys basketball for 2002.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Latta High Vikings boys basketball team in care of Head Coach, Steven Smith.
