TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATION OF JOHNSTON EDGEFIELD TRENTON "JET" MIDDLE SCHOOL, IN EDGEFIELD COUNTY, UPON RECEIVING THE 2000-2001 CAROLINA FIRST PALMETTO'S FINEST AWARD.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to recognize Johnston Edgefield Trenton "JET" Middle School for being honored with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award at a ceremony in Columbia on March 6, 2001; and
Whereas, only "JET" middle school, two elementary schools, and one high school were chosen to receive this prestigious award out of the forty-four schools throughout the State that applied; and
Whereas, the schools chosen exemplify all that is good and positive in public education in this State, a "shining example of educational excellence", and a model of quality public education; and
Whereas, under the exceptional guidance and inspiration of Principal Robert Heflin, the "JET" faculty, staff, and students worked diligently and with determination to overcome many obstacles to receive this coveted award; and
Whereas, Johnston Edgefield Trenton Middle School is the first school in Edgefield County to have won the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award; and
Whereas, this award recognizes the outstanding and effective leadership of Principal Heflin and his administration, the extraordinary dedication and talent of the teachers and staff, and the strong academic achievements of JET's students; and
Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to have such fine schools in South Carolina as Johnston Edgefield Trenton Middle School. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Johnston Edgefield Trenton "JET" Middle School, in Edgefield County, for receiving the 2000-2001 Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Robert Heflin.
