A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE SENECA HIGH SCHOOL HONORS CHORALE FOR WINNING THE STATE TITLE AMONG AAA SCHOOLS AND FOR TYING FOR THE GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE STATE CHORAL FESTIVAL, TO CONGRATULATE THE HONORS CHORALE FOR A LONG TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN THE PERFORMING MUSICAL ARTS, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the Seneca High School Honors Chorale recently sang their way to the state title for AAA schools and tied for the overall grand championship with an AAAA school at the State Choral Festival; and

Whereas, Seneca High School has a strong music program with a tradition of excellence including five choirs. The Honors Chorale is the most select choir and has enjoyed many successes; and

Whereas, the Honors Chorale has never received a rating other than Superior at the South Carolina Solo and Ensemble and the South Carolina State Choral Festival and received the highest ratings at festivals in New York City, Vancouver, and Walt Disney World; and

Whereas, Seneca High School has won the state competition four out of their last five appearances and has had two hundred thirty students selected to the South Carolina All-State Chorus since 1990; and

Whereas, the Seneca High School Honors Chorale has sung the National Anthem at a Chicago Cubs baseball game and twice at the Carolina Panthers' football game. They have also sung numerous times for the Biltmore House Christmas candlelight festivities; and

Whereas, the Honors Chorale has appeared as the guest chorus with the Greenville Chorale and Foothills Chorale, was featured on South Carolina Educational Television, and performed in England, Austria, and Germany; and

Whereas, members of the Honors Chorale have continued their education at schools renowned for their music studies such as the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Eastman School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, the Juilliard School for the Performing Arts, the North Carolina School for the Arts, Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, and several South Carolina educational institutions; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to recognize and honor such a talented and dedicated ensemble as the Seneca High School Honors Chorale. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend the Seneca High School Honors Chorale for winning the state title among AAA schools and for tying for the overall grand championship at the State Choral Festival, congratulate them for their long tradition of excellence in the performing musical arts, and wish them much success in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Seneca High School Honors Chorale.
