A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. IDELLE K. PRICE OF LEXINGTON, THE OLDEST LIVING WIDOW IN LEXINGTON COUNTY OF A WORLD WAR I VETERAN, ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Mrs. Idelle K. Price of Lexington County will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on April 15, 2002, surrounded by her family, friends, and many others from her community who wish to help Mrs. Price mark this very special occasion; and

Whereas, Mrs. Price was married to Daniel F. Price on October 15, 1938, but Mr. Price unfortunately lost his life on September 13, 1942, during World War II; and

Whereas, this lovely lady is the oldest living widow in Lexington County of a World War I veteran and is among the oldest living widows of World War I veterans in South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mrs. Price always puts others before self. She has been an outstanding citizen, wife, and friend to everyone. As long as her health allowed, she enjoyed playing the piano for her church, crocheting, and taking care of others; and

Whereas, Mrs. Price recently recovered from hip surgery and learned to walk again at age ninety-nine; and

Whereas, the wisdom and life experiences that one accumulates over the course of many years can be passed on for the benefit of others, and few can say they have accumulated more than this amazing person who has been witness to great economic depression, tragic world war, man's exploration of the heavens, and incredible advances in science and medicine; and

Whereas, all birthdays are special events, but for one such as this, it is fitting that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives pause to celebrate this wonderful milestone Mrs. Idelle K. Price will reach on April 15, 2002. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate Mrs. Idelle K. Price of Lexington, the oldest living widow in Lexington County of a World War I veteran, on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her many more years of health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Idelle K. Price.
