TO AMEND SECTION 44-1-140, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE AUTHORITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL TO PROMULGATE REGULATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH, INCLUDING SANITATION OF HOTELS, RESTAURANTS, AND OTHER EATING ESTABLISHMENTS, SO AS TO INCLUDE IN THIS AUTHORITY THE PROMULGATION OF STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD NOT SERVED OR CONSUMED TO AGENCIES PROVIDING MEALS AND FOOD TO CLIENTS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 44-1-140(2) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(2) For the sanitation of hotels, restaurants, cafes, drugstores, hot dog and hamburger stands and all other places or establishments providing eating or drinking facilities and all other places known as private nursing homes or places of similar nature, operated for gain or profit including, but not limited to, regulations providing standards and procedures for these establishments to distribute food not served or consumed to agencies, public and private, providing meals and food to the needy;"
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
