              Versions of This Bill

TO EXTEND THE SUPPORT OF THE SENATE TO DONNIE MYERS, SOLICITOR FOR THE ELEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT, AND THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CRIME VICTIMS OF THIS STATE.

Whereas, Donnie Myers was elected solicitor for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in 1976 and has served continuously since that date; and

Whereas, during that twenty-four-year tenure, he has been a tireless advocate for crime victims, having prosecuted criminals in almost sixty-eight thousand cases in General Sessions Court and more than nine thousand juvenile cases in Family Court; and

Whereas, his hard-nosed and tough stance on crime has resulted in more murderers being confined to Death Row in the Eleventh Circuit than in any other Judicial Circuit of the State; and

Whereas, as chairman of the South Carolina Commission on Prosecution Coordination and member of the Board of Directors of the National District Attorneys Association, he is recognized and respected throughout the country as an expert in capital cases litigation and in search and seizure law; and

Whereas, his diligent and honorable efforts and his professional example have achieved a safer South Carolina for all its citizens. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate extend their support to Donnie Myers, Solicitor for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, and thank him for his service to the crime victims of this State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Solicitor Myers.
