A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING FORT MILL AND ITS TOWN CITIZENS ON THEIR TWENTIETH ANNUAL FEST-I-FUN SPRING CELEBRATION, TO COMMEND THEM ON CREATING A COMMUNITY SPIRITED, FUN-FILLED EVENT FOR ALL AGES, AND TO WISH THEM A SUCCESSFUL 2002 FESTIVAL.

Whereas, 2002 marks the twentieth anniversary celebration of Fort Mill's "Fest-i-Fun" salute to Spring, the vision of Post Mistress Blanche Carter and the highlight of the community's Spring calendar; and

Whereas, Fest-i-Fun has grown from a casual gathering of local musical talent to a stage production of professional musicians along with a parade, craft and retail venders, and other special events which have included National Guard demonstrations, an antique car show, and on-going performances by local talent; and

Whereas, the simple, sweet, and eternally cheerful daffodil is not only a welcomed harbinger of Spring, but a well recognized symbol of the Fest-i-Fun and a constant, like the Powers family, throughout the annual celebrations; and

Whereas, Mayor Powers has not only been involved with the festival since its inception, having served as chairman several times and working behind the scenes on numerous occasions, but his family, too, has embraced this event and shared much of their time and talents in bringing this annual event to fruition; and

Whereas, the town of Fort Mill and its citizens are to be commended for twenty years of bringing to the community a wholesome, fun-filled family festival that has become the focal point of Spring. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Fort Mill and its town citizens on their twentieth annual Fest-i-Fun Spring Celebration, to commend them on creating a community spirited, fun-filled event for all ages, and to wish them a successful 2002 festival.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mayor Powers.
