TO RECOGNIZE AND THANK COMMISSIONER JAMES M. "MIKE" MCMICHAEL OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA RESIDENTIAL BUILDERS COMMISSION FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE HOME BUILDING INDUSTRY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM WELL AS HE LEAVES THE STATE.

Whereas, James M. "Mike" McMichael has committed himself to the Home Building Industry, and his unselfish commitment has helped to ensure that every citizen in this State can look forward to realizing the Great American Dream of home ownership; and

Whereas, Mike McMichael began as the President of Oconee Home Builders Association in 1986 and has since been involved in the State, Area, and National Home Builders Associations. He is presently the Commissioner of the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission; and

Whereas, he has been involved with the Home Builders Association of South Carolina in many capacities which include service as the State Director, District 3 Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Life Director; and

Whereas, in the National Association of Home Builders, Mike McMichael has been just as active. He has served as the Area Vice President for South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, and served on several committees and task forces; and

Whereas, Mike McMichael was also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the South Carolina Home Builders Self Insurers Fund from 1995 until 2000; and

Whereas, Mike McMichael's hard work has earned him many awards and honors such as the National Representative of South Carolina for National Association of Home Builders for 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999 and Representative of the Year in 1998; and

Whereas, he received the South Carolina Home Builders President's Keystone Award in 1995 and 1997 and was inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame in 1999; and

Whereas, James M. McMichael's leadership and loyalty will be greatly missed in the State as well as the home building community as he and his family leave South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and thank Commissioner James M. "Mike" McMichael of the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission for his leadership and dedicated service to the Home Building Industry of South Carolina and wish him well as he leaves the State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to James M. McMichael of Oconee County.
