A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS SINCERE AND IMMENSE GRATITUDE TO LAURA BENNETT OF BISHOPVILLE FOR THE IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE SHE GAVE TO REPRESENTATIVE DENNY NEILSON INSTANTLY AFTER HER TERRIBLE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 8, 2001, AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Laura Bennett played an extremely urgent and important role in saving Representative Denny Neilson's life immediately following her horrifying traffic accident on February 8, 2001; and

Whereas, Representative Neilson was traveling on United States Highway 15 in rural Lee County when a tractor-trailer crossed the center line and crashed head-on into her Ford Explorer; and

Whereas, as Representative Neilson's car crumpled around her, Laura Bennett, a skilled nurse, was in the car behind her and, though she was injured herself, rendered urgent care to Representative Neilson's badly broken body; and

Whereas, Laura Bennett's airbag deployed in the accident, and she had cuts, bruises, and a concussion, but she persevered because she knew she had to help Representative Neilson; and

Whereas, Representative Neilson attributes her survival and recovery to Laura Bennett whose courageous and commendable acts were surely instrumental in her revival; and

Whereas, for both of these courageous women, this accident serves as a reminder of God's plan and will for each person's life. Thankfully, He sent an angel in Laura Bennett to help Representative Denny Neilson; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure and appreciation that the members of the General Assembly recognize and extol Laura Bennett of Bishopville for her heroic efforts at saving Representative Denny Neilson's life on that fateful day in 2001. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sincere and immense gratitude to Laura Bennett of Bishopville for the immediate assistance she gave to Representative Denny Neilson instantly after her terrible traffic accident on February 8, 2001, and wish her much success and happiness in her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Laura Bennett of Bishopville.
