TO COMMEND AMANDA LEIANN LARK OF ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HER IMPRESSIVE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND STRONG COMMITMENT TO BETTERING THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND HER AND TO EXPRESS BEST WISHES TO HER IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Amanda Leiann Lark of Anderson, South Carolina is an outstanding young lady and worthy of praise for her remarkable deeds and accomplishments; and
Whereas, Amanda Lark is a 2002 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education; and
Whereas, while a student at Southern Wesleyan University, Amanda Lark proved to be a gifted scholar and student leader; she was inducted into the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, selected as a Future Leaders Scholar, made both the Southern Wesleyan University and National Dean's List, served as Senior Class Secretary, and was elected President of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries; and
Whereas, Miss Lark is a 1998 Honor Graduate of Westside High School where her long list of achievements include being a member of the National Honor Society, a Teacher Cadet, participating in the American Legion Palmetto Girls State program, attending the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., and winning both the Anderson Jaycees Community Involvement Scholarship and the Acteens Service Aide Award; and
Whereas, Amanda Lark is a highly active member of her community who gives of her time and talents to benefit others; she has worked as a counselor and lifeguard for underprivileged and disabled children at Camp Providence in Anderson, volunteered with the Special Olympics and the Anderson Area Medical Center, and has taken part in a number of programs devoted to religious ministries; and
Whereas, Amanda Lark is determined to expand her acts of good will far beyond the borders of South Carolina; she has been a part of mission trips to Vermont, South Dakota, and Brazil; she was recently appointed a student missionary by the International Mission Board, and in September of 2002, she will travel to Burkina Faso, Africa where she will serve for seven months; and
Whereas, upon her return from Africa, Miss Lark plans to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to work toward a Masters Degree; and
Whereas, Amanda Lark's zest for life and desire to serve others has already distinguished her as a leader among her peers, and the members of the House of Representatives will watch with great interest as the career of one of the Palmetto State's best and brightest continues to unfold. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend Amanda Leiann Lark of Anderson, South Carolina, for her impressive academic achievements and strong commitment to bettering the lives of those around her and express best wishes to her in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Amanda Leiann Lark of Anderson, South Carolina.
