TO HONOR AND COMMEND ROBBIE ELAINE WATT SMITH OF THE TOWN OF WARE SHOALS FOR HER TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF DEDICATED AND DEVOTED SERVICE TO THE TOWN OF WARE SHOALS CULMINATING IN HER POSITION AS THE CLERK/TREASURER FOR THE LAST TWELVE YEARS, AND TO WISH HER MANY YEARS OF PRODUCTIVE AND ENJOYABLE RETIREMENT WHICH SHE SO RICHLY DESERVES.
Whereas, the members of the Senate have learned that Robbie Elaine Watt Smith, a native daughter of Ware Shoals, has announced her retirement from the position of Clerk/Treasurer of the Town on August 31, 2001; and
Whereas, Ms. Robbie Watt Smith is a graduate of Ware Shoals High School who began her employment with the town on August 4, 1975, as a utility billing clerk and receptionist; and
Whereas, she proved herself an invaluable asset to the smooth working of town government, and in 1989 was promoted to the office of Clerk/Treasurer; and
Whereas, Ms. Watt Smith is fully accredited for this position having completed the Municipal Clerk/Treasurer Institute administered by the Municipal Association of South Carolina; and
Whereas, not only is Ms. Watt Smith a member of many professional associations such as the South Carolina Utility Billing Association, South Carolina Public Records Association, and the South Carolina Business License Association, she has involved herself with the historically significant and important Ware Shoals and Greenwood County Heritage Corridor Committees; and
Whereas, it is a distinct privilege for the members of the Senate to extend their sincere gratitude to Ms. Robbie Watt Smith for her years of loyal and trustworthy service to her hometown of Ware Shoals. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate honor and commend Robbie Elaine Watt Smith of the Town of Ware Shoals for her twenty-six years of dedicated and devoted service to the town of Ware Shoals culminating in her position as the Clerk/Treasurer for the last twelve years, and wish her many years of productive and enjoyable retirement which she so richly deserves.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Robbie Watt Smith.
