THE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION

    To whom was referred a Bill (S. 190) to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 57-3-210 so as to provide that the Department of Transportation shall notify a county's legislative delegation, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

    That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:

    Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking SECTION 1 in its entirety and inserting:

    / SECTION    1.    The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 57-3-210. Notwithstanding another provision of law, the Department of Transportation shall notify a county's legislative delegation before the department closes a bridge or road for repairs that will not be completed within a forty-five-day period. However, this provision does not apply when the department must close a bridge or road pursuant to an emergency situation." /

    Amend title to conform.

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 57-3-210 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL NOTIFY A COUNTY'S LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION BEFORE THE DEPARTMENT CLOSES A BRIDGE OR ROAD FOR REPAIRS THAT WILL NOT BE COMPLETED WITHIN A THIRTY-DAY PERIOD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 57-3-210. Notwithstanding another provision of law, the Department of Transportation shall notify a county's legislative delegation before the department closes a bridge or road for repairs that will not be completed within a thirty-day period."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
