A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT THE BEAUFORT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MAY ESTABLISH, WITHIN GUIDELINES, ITS COMPENSATION AND PER DIEM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 1 of Act 295 of 1975, codified as Section 21-1406 of the 1962 Code, the Beaufort County Board of Education may establish by board policy the level of compensation for all board members and board officers, provided the compensation does not exceed the compensation paid to members of the Beaufort County Council. The board may also establish by policy its per diem for all meetings, and procedures and level of reimbursement for board member expenses.

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
