A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, LICENSING AND REGULATION, BOARD OF EXAMINERS FOR LICENSURE OF PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS, MARITAL AND FAMILY THERAPISTS, RELATING TO LICENSING, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2526, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The regulations of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists, relating to licensing, designated as Regulation Document Number 2526, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED

BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

Revisions have been made to include psycho-educational specialists and to clarify educational and experience requirements for licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, licensed professional counselor interns, marriage and family therapy interns, licensed professional counselor supervisors, and marriage and family therapy supervisors, as well as practitioners who diagnose and treat serious disorders.

    These regulations also include an impaired practitioner's program and provide a code of ethics for each group of licensees.
