A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-13-255 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY SHALL ISSUE A LIMITED LICENSE TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHOSE LICENSE HAS LAPSED WITHOUT REEXAMINATION IF THE PERSON IS OVER SIXTY YEARS OF AGE, AND HAS PRACTICED FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS AND TO FURTHER PROVIDE THAT THE SCOPE OF PRACTICE IS LIMITED TO THAT WHICH THE PERSON COULD PRACTICE UNDER THE FORMER LICENSE.

    Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 40-13-255.    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 40-13-250 or any other provision of law, the board may issue a limited license without reexamination to an individual whose license has lapsed if the person is over sixty years of age and practiced under a valid license for more than thirty years. The scope of practice authorized under this section is limited to the scope of practice authorized under the individual's former license."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
