A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 53-3-160 SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE ELEVENTH DAY OF SEPTEMBER OF EACH YEAR AS A STATE DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, TERRORIST ATTACKS AND FOR ALL OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S FIREFIGHTERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, NATIONAL GUARD, AND EMERGENCY SERVICE PERSONNEL.

    Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 53-3-160.    The eleventh day of September of each year is designated as a State Day of Remembrance for the victims of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and for the firefighters, law enforcement, National Guard, and emergency service personnel who risk their lives and well-being everyday to ensure the safety of South Carolina's citizens."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
