A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 256 OF 1981, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF MARLBORO COUNTY, SO AS TO REDESIGNATE THE EIGHT ELECTION DISTRICTS FROM WHICH MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ARE ELECTED, DESIGNATE A MAP NUMBER ON WHICH THE ELECTION DISTRICTS ARE DELINEATED, AND DELETE PROVISIONS WHICH PROVIDED THAT THE MEMBERS ARE ELECTED FROM ELECTION DISTRICTS WHICH CORRESPOND TO THE EIGHT SINGLE-MEMBER ELECTION DISTRICTS FROM WHICH MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF MARLBORO COUNTY ARE ELECTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 5 of Act 256 of 1981, as last amended by Act 611 of 1992, is further amended to read:

    "Section 5.    For the purpose of electing members of the Marlboro County Board of Education beginning in 1992 2002, the School District of Marlboro County is divided into eight single-member election districts corresponding with the eight single-member election districts for the election of members to the county council of Marlboro County from which each member must reside and be elected by the qualified electors of that election district and as shown on the official map designated as S-69-00-02 prepared by and on file with the Office of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
