A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 526 OF 1996, RELATING TO THE THREE CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF EACH DISTRICT TO SET BY MAJORITY VOTE A SALARY THAT EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL RECEIVE FOR ATTENDING MEETINGS OF THE BOARD, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE MANNER IN WHICH THESE AMOUNTS SHALL BE PAID AND FOR LIMITATIONS THEREON.

    Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 6 of Act 526 of 1996 is amended by adding:

    "(10)    set by majority vote of the board a salary that each member shall receive for attending meetings of the board which on an annual basis shall not exceed four thousand eight hundred dollars. The salary set by each consolidated board may be paid on a per meeting, monthly, annual, or other basis provided that for any year the total paid to any member shall not exceed the limits provided above."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
