A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 51-13-220, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF MEMBERS OF THE SANTEE-COOPER COUNTIES PROMOTIONS COMMISSION, TO PROVIDE THAT THE TERMS OF THE MEMBERS SHALL BE FOR FOUR YEARS INSTEAD OF ONE YEAR, AND TO MAKE CERTAIN TECHNICAL CHANGES.

    Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 51-13-220 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

    "Section 51-13-220.    The Commission commission shall be composed initially of four members from Berkeley County, two members from Orangeburg County, two members from Clarendon County, one member from Sumter County, and one member from Calhoun County, who shall be appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the legislative delegations from the respective counties.

    The general manager president and chief executive officer of the South Carolina Public Service Authority shall be an ex officio member of the Commission commission and may be represented by his nominee at any meetings which the general manager president and chief executive officer is unable to attend in person.

    The terms of office shall be for one year four years and until their successors are appointed and qualify.

    The organizational meeting shall be held within thirty days after all members have been appointed and qualify."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect January 1, 2002.
