A BILL

TO AMEND AN UNNUMBERED ACT OF 2001 BEARING RATIFICATION NUMBER 145, RELATING TO THE NAME AND GOVERNANCE OF MARION COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SEVEN, SO AS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE DISTRICT TO LOWER MARION COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT THREE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 2 of an unnumbered Act of 2001, bearing ratification number 145, is amended to read:

    "Section 2.    If the Marion County Board of Education consolidates Marion County School Districts Three and Four, the resulting school district may be titled 'Lower Marion County School District Seven Three', if that name is set forth in the order of consolidation filed pursuant to Section 59-17-60. The board of trustees of the consolidated school district shall be composed of seven members appointed by the Marion County Board of Education in a manner consistent with existing provisions of state law."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
