A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE C. VERNON HAMMOND OF CAMDEN, SOUTH CAROLINA FOR HIS PERSONAL COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SERVICE AND THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS HE HAS MADE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND STATE AS A MEMBER OF THE CAMDEN CITY COUNCIL AND TO WISH FOR HIS CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, C. Vernon Hammond began his term as a member of the Camden City Council twelve years ago; and

Whereas, Mr. Hammond's proudest accomplishments on City Council during the past decade include the construction of Camden's new water plant; the downtown redevelopment project; annexation efforts which have yielded much larger incorporated city limits; expansion of the city's tax base, both residential and commercial, which has enabled the city to pay for expanded services thus ensuring Camden's quality of life; and overall improvement to the infrastructure of the city; and

Whereas, Mr. Hammond will not run for re-election to the seat he has held for nearly twelve years; and

Whereas, Mr. Hammond has called the experience of serving one that he will treasure forever and he will mostly likely continue public service at the local level in another capacity; and

Whereas, the citizens of Camden and the State of South Carolina are indebted to C. Vernon Hammond for his many contributions to his city and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend and congratulate C. Vernon Hammond of Camden for his personal commitment to public service and the many contributions he has made to his community and State as a member of the Camden City Council and wish for his continued success and happiness in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to C. Vernon Hammond.
