VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
JOINING THE CITIZENS OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY IN WELCOMING THE EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE LOCATION ON THE GROUNDS OF THE MARY BLACK MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF THE MARY BLACK CENTER FOR ORTHOPEDIC EXCELLENCE, A COLLABORATION OF THE LONG-TRUSTED MARY BLACK HEALTH SYSTEM AND THE HIGHLY RESPECTED STEADMAN HAWKINS CLINIC.
Whereas, the citizens of Spartanburg County are fortunate to enjoy access to one of the finest health care systems in the United States; and
Whereas, in a bold move designed to provide state-of-the-art orthopedic surgical procedures in the county, the Mary Black Center for Orthopedic Excellence announces its plans to break ground for a new 100,000-square-foot orthopedic facility on the Mary Black Memorial Hospital campus; and
Whereas, the exciting new project is a collaboration between Spartanburg's own trusted Mary Black Health System and the world renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic of Vail, Colorado; and
Whereas, the Center is expected to enhance the quality of health care by pooling the experience and skills of its partners, while increasing the quantity of orthopedic surgical procedures significantly in its first year of operation; and
Whereas, because health care is a vital industry in the scheme of Spartanburg County's economy, the Mary Black Center for Orthopedic Excellence also is expected to create more than one hundred new jobs and engender capital investment of more than forty million dollars; and
Whereas, this affirmative commitment to promoting the well-being of the citizens of Spartanburg County is a continuing tradition of the Mary Black Health System, since the founding of the Mary Black Memorial Hospital almost eighty years ago; and
Whereas, the Steadman Hawkins Clinics have combined research and experience to earn worldwide recognition as the leaders in orthopedic and sports medicine; and
Whereas, this meeting of proud traditions and progressive new ventures evidenced by the collaboration of these two entities is symbolic of the exciting partnerships being created all across South Carolina on behalf of South Carolinians. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina hereby join the citizens of Spartanburg County in welcoming the exciting announcement of the location on the grounds of the Mary Black Memorial Hospital of the Mary Black Center for Orthopedic Excellence, a collaboration of the long-trusted Mary Black Health System and the highly respected Steadman Hawkins Clinic.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be presented to the Mary Black Health System and the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.
