A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MR. JASON FULMER OF AIKEN, A TEACHER AT REDCLIFFE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, FOR BEING NAMED ONE OF THE TOP FOUR FINALISTS FOR THE 2004 NATIONAL TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Mr. Jason Fulmer of Aiken, a teacher at Redcliffe Elementary School, was named the South Carolina Teacher of the year for 2003-2004, and in connection with this prestigious award, he represented South Carolina in the National Teacher of the Year competition; and

Whereas, this young man's extraordinary teaching capabilities and commitment to the teaching profession were recognized on the national level, when he was named as one of the top four finalists for the 2004 National Teacher of the Year; and

Whereas, Mr. Fulmer was honored for this distinguished national recognition at the White House in Washington, D. C. by President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush on April 21, 2004; and

Whereas, as the 2003-2004 South Carolina Teacher of the Year, he has traveled the State as an ambassador and mentor, representing South Carolina teachers in many forums, advocating for education, and sharing his academic and teaching philosophies, innovations, and enthusiasm; and

Whereas, his dedication to advancing education in South Carolina and to bettering the lives of children, as well as his pursuit of excellence in teaching is unparalleled. Mr. Fulmer is truly an outstanding educator and advocate and an exemplary role model; and

Whereas, it is proper and fitting for the members of the South Carolina General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to recognize such a distinguished South Carolinian as Mr. Jason Fulmer. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Jason Fulmer, of Aiken, a teacher at Redcliffe Elementary School, for being named one of the top four finalists for the 2004 National Teacher of the Year and wish him well in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jason Fulmer.
