VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 30-4-20, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED IN THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM "MEETING" IS A CORPORAL CONVENING OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BODY AND TO DELETE CONVENING BY MEANS OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF A NATURAL OR DECLARED DISASTER.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 30-4-20(d) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(d) 'Meeting' means the corporal convening of a quorum of the constituent membership of a public body, whether corporal or by means of electronic equipment, to discuss or act upon a matter over which the public body has supervision, control, jurisdiction, or advisory power; however, convening by means of electronic equipment may be used in the event of a natural disaster or a state or federally declared disaster."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
