VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE MANNING-SANTEE AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND ASSISTANTS FOR THEIR SPIRITED STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives applaud the Manning-Santee American Legion Baseball Team on winning their first state championship; and
Whereas, the Manning-Santee baseball team demonstrated dedication and determination during the 2002 baseball season as the team finished the season with an exceptional record of twenty-six wins and thirteen losses; and
Whereas, members of Post 68 team vowed to win the state title in honor of Tucker Belangia, Coach Steve Belangia's son, who was killed in a car accident before the start of the season. Coach Cutter said that the team felt like Tucker was the tenth man on the field, and Tucker's jersey hung in the Manning dugout throughout the season; and
Whereas, the members of the winning team include: Ryan Williamson, Ben Osborne, Lee Tabor, Blake Barron, T. J. McCord, King Cutter, Stan Markle, Lionel Greene, Keith Stewart, Conrad Kellahan, Brian Grubbs, David Duke, Jimmy Coker, Daniel Harrington, Brian Bridges, Chris Skinner, and Tommy Wampler; and
Whereas, Head Coach G. G. Cutter, with the aid of Bill Brewer, Steve Belangia, and Tom Wampler, pushed Post 68 towards the victories. The team also was assisted by bat boys Cagney Brunson and Robbie Ouzts; and
Whereas, Manning-Santee played in their first state tournament and defeated Irmo in a double elimination game on the final day of the tournament. Manning-Santee lost the first game 11-1 in eight innings, but won the second game 6-1 to clinch the championship; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize the Manning-Santee American Legion Baseball Team for their state championship win in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Sunday, August 4, 2002, and express great pride in the team's accomplishments. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and congratulate the Manning-Santee American Legion Baseball Team, coaches, and assistants for their spirited state championship win and wish them much success in their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Manning-Santee American Legion Baseball Team.
