A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-870, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO BIRD SANCTUARIES BY ADDING TWO NEW ITEMS SO AS TO DESIGNATE AN AREA SURROUNDING THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE BUILDING IN MURRELLS INLET AND THE AREA LYING BETWEEN THE TOWN LIMITS OF SURFSIDE BEACH AND THE TOWN LIMITS OF MURRELLS INLET AND BETWEEN PORTIONS OF U.S. HIGHWAY BUSINESS 17 AND THE ATLANTIC OCEAN AND OF U. S. HIGHWAY 17 AND THE ATLANTIC OCEAN, INCLUDING THE MARSHES AND WETLANDS IN HORRY AND GEORGETOWN COUNTIES LYING WITHIN THE DESIGNATED AREA AS BIRD SANCTUARIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 50-11-870 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 294 of 1998, is further amended by adding two new items, appropriately numbered, to read:

"( )    within a five mile radius of the United States Post Office building located in Murrells Inlet including the marshes and wetlands lying within the area designated by this item;

( )    the area lying between the town limits of Surfside Beach and the town limits of Murrells Inlet and between that portion of U. S. Highway Business 17 north of the southernmost junction of U. S. Highway 17 and U. S. Highway Business 17 in Horry County and the Atlantic Ocean, and between that portion of U. S. Highway 17 south of the junction of U. S. Highway Business 17 and U. S. Highway 17 in Horry County and the Atlantic Ocean, including the marshes and wetlands in Horry and Georgetown counties lying within the area designated by this item;"

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
