A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE SINCERE SYMPATHY OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MRS. CORIA ELLIS ZIMMERMAN OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY WHO DIED ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2003.

Whereas, Mrs. Coria Ellis Zimmerman was born to William Ellis and Lizzie Huggins Ellis on February 11, 1910, in Calhoun County, and died January 24, 2003, in Orangeburg County at the age of ninety-two; and

Whereas, her long and fruitful life was a model of faith and family; and

Whereas, she was a loyal member of Providence AME Church and, later Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cameron; and

Whereas, after their move to Orangeburg in 1951, she worked with her loving husband, the late Harry "Slim" Zimmerman, at St. Paul United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, she served in the Missionary Society, Senior Choir, Pulpit Aid Club, Sunday School, YMCA, and as Deaconess and "Mother" of the Church at Mt. Carmel; and

Whereas, she and Mr. Zimmerman were the parents of six adoring children, Dorothy Z. Elmore, L. Zimmerman Keitt, Evia Z. Thomas, James Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, and LeRoy Zimmerman, who took heed of their parents' love by raising warm and happy families of their own; and

Whereas, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends mourn the loss of this strong and faithful lady. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives extend sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Coria Ellis Zimmerman of Orangeburg County who died on Friday, January 24, 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Coria Ellis Zimmerman.
