A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO WELCOME BRUCE SCHWARTZ OF BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA, A DIRECTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS, TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS TIRELESS EFFORTS AND LEADERSHIP ON BEHALF OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS.

Whereas, Bruce Schwartz of Bismarck, North Dakota, has been a member of the Bismarck Lions Club since 1983 and has been a Lion since 1962; and

Whereas, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairman, region chairman, and district governor. He also served as North Dakota Lions All-Star Basketball advertising chairman and president of the Past District Governor's Association. He is currently a district Leader Dogs for the Blind Chairman and district Leadership trainer; and

Whereas, in recognition of his service to the association, Director Schwartz has received numerous awards, including six 100% Club Secretary Awards, the 100% Club President Award, the 100% Leader Dogs for the Blind Chairman Award, the 100% District Governor Award, the Membership Growth Master Key Award, and four International President's Certificates of Appreciation. He has also had twenty-seven years perfect attendance and is a Melvin Jones Fellow; and

Whereas, Bruce Schwartz was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 85th International Convention, held in Osaka, Japan, July 8-12, 2002; and

Whereas, Director Schwartz is also active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has been a member of the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus since 1977 and was inducted into the Northern Plains Fraternal Insurance Counselors Hall of Fame in 2002. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Educator Award and the North Dakota Fraternalist of the Year Award; and

Whereas, Director Schwartz and his wife, Julie, also a Lion, have one son, two daughters, three grandsons, and one granddaughter; and

Whereas, Bruce Schwartz will be in South Carolina for the South Carolina Mid-Winter Conference, and the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend to him a warm South Carolina welcome and recognize his efforts on behalf of the Lions Clubs. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly welcome Bruce Schwartz of Bismarck, North Dakota, a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs, to South Carolina and commend him for his tireless efforts and leadership on behalf of the International Association of Lions Clubs.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Bruce Schwartz.
