A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE NEALS CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH OF ANDERSON UPON ITS CELEBRATION OF TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE GLORY OF GOD, AND TO CHARGE THE CONGREGATION TO CONTINUE ITS FAITH AND HUMILITY IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, the Reverend Moses Holland was the first pastor of Neals Creek Baptist Church, which was established March 19, 1803, in a log structure with split log pews; and

Whereas, Reverend Holland inspired the congregation at Neals Creek for twenty-six years as the church grew in faith and numbers; and

Whereas, the enthusiastic congregation and charismatic preachers transitioned through several buildings and established other churches in the area including Eureka, Dorchester, Long Branch, Triangle, and Welfare Baptist Churches; and

Whereas, a deeply loving congregation with pride in its convictions and tremendous faith in God is what has held the church together for two hundred years as they have continued to grow in Christ; and

Whereas, the Church plans to celebrate this monumental occasion with music and the preaching of the Word on which the foundation was built, having the congregation dress as they did two hundred years ago. The festivities will continue into the afternoon with prayer and special music; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Neals Creek Baptist Church for its long-standing tradition as a pillar to God, seeking to do its best to go onward and upward to higher attainments. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Neals Creek Baptist Church of Anderson upon its celebration of two hundred years of dedicated service to the glory of God and charge the congregation to continue its faith and humility in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the congregation of Neals Creek Baptist Church of Anderson.
