A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE AMAZING RACING TALENT OF MR. JUSTIN HOBGOOD OF WINNSBORO AND TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MR. HOBGOOD ON HIS NASCAR GOODY'S DASH SERIES ACHIEVEMENTS.

Whereas, NASCAR racing is a loved and respected sport by people throughout the State of South Carolina and the country; and

Whereas, to be a racecar driver one must possess special skills, incredible determination, and extreme courage; and

Whereas, with the support of his family and friends, Mr. Justin Hobgood of Winnsboro has become one of the best NASCAR drivers in the Goody's Dash Series, following in the footsteps of his father, Will Hobgood; and

Whereas, Mr. Hobgood began his career in this sport at the youthful age of seven, initially racing go-karts and later competing in a modified four-cylinder dirt-car, winning the Budweiser South Carolina Championship Race; and

Whereas, Mr. Hobgood's first full season with the Goody's Dash Series was in 1999 and since then he has won several races and received many awards for his extraordinary talent as a driver; and

Whereas, in 2001, Mr. Hobgood enjoyed great success by capturing the winning position at the AC Delco 200 Race at Daytona International Speedway and by having two second-place finishes, one at Myrtle Beach Speedway and the other at USA International Speedway; and

Whereas, in the next year, Mr. Hobgood continued his winning streak by becoming the Bud Pole Award Winner with five pole positions, capturing the Gatorade Front Runner Lap Leader Award, and placing third in Championship Series Points; and

Whereas, Mr. Hobgood not only has experienced numerous achievements as a driver but also as a crew team member by serving on the crew team of his father, Will, and as the crew chief for his brother, Jake; and

Whereas, while Mr. Hobgood wishes to continue his career with the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series, he also aspires to become a successful driver in the Busch Series. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, wish to recognize the amazing racing talent of Mr. Justin Hobgood of Winnsboro and to extend their congratulations to Mr. Hobgood on his NASCAR Goody's Dash Series Achievements.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Justin Hobgood of Winnsboro.
