VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE DUTCH FORK HIGH SCHOOL "SILVER FOXES" WRESTLING TEAM ON WINNING THE 2003 STATE CLASS AAAA WRESTING CHAMPIONSHIP, TO COMMEND THESE TALENTED ATHLETES AND THEIR COACH FOR THE HARD WORK, TENACITY, AND COMPETITIVE SPIRIT THAT ENABLED THE "SILVER FOXES" TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TEAM, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC CAREERS AND IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, on February 15, 2003, after overcoming early season illness and injuries, the high spirited Dutch Fork High School "Silver Foxes" Wrestling Team defeated Spring Valley, 37-34, and won the 2003 Class AAAA state dual wrestling championship; and
Whereas, last season Dutch Fork's wrestling team compiled a 20-1 record and was state runner-up under Coach LaPrad, who built the Irmo program before moving to Dutch Fork. And, before defeating Summerville this year, Dutch Fork had finished second to their Lowcountry rival in 2000 and 2001, and lost by one point in 2002; and
Whereas, this season the "Silver Foxes" were primed for a title with six wrestlers ranked number one in the State in their weight classes and five wrestlers ranked in the top eight in the State. Thus, as part of a five-year span in which the Foxes finished as runner-up four times, 2003 proved to be the year the "Silver Foxes" completed a wildly successful season that saw them shake the "second-place" monkey off their back; and
Whereas, well trained, motivated, and ably led by Coach B. D. LaPrad, the 2003 Dutch Fork "Silver Foxes" championship wrestling team includes Neal Selke, Eric Harris, Matt Firtko, Kyle Kimrey, Guy Caskey, Jacob Neal, T. J. Selke, Chris Carpenter, Blake Teague, Trey McDaniel, Ryan Jones, Eric Lambert, Nike Leone, David Estes, and J. C. Greene; and
Whereas, in recognition of the individual and team victories in the highly competitive sport of wrestling, the members of the General Assembly are proud to take this opportunity to commend the outstanding 2003 Dutch Fork High School "Silver Foxes" Wrestling Team and coach for their hard work and tenacity, and congratulate them on winning the 2003 Class AAAA state wrestling championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Dutch Fork High School "Silver Foxes" Wrestling Team on winning the 2003 State Class AAAA wrestling championship, commend these talented athletes and their coach for the hard work, tenacity, and competitive spirit that enabled the "Silver Foxes" to become a championship wrestling team, and wish them every success in their academic and athletic careers and in all of their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that, on behalf of Dutch Fork High School and the 2003 Class AAAA Championship "Silver Foxes" Wrestling Team, a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach B. D. LaPrad of Columbia.
