A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE INDIAN LAND HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS SOFTBALL TEAM ON WINNING THEIR FIFTH CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN THE LAST SEVEN YEARS AND COMMEND THE HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION OF THE PLAYERS, COACHES, STAFF, AND OTHER OFFICIALS FOR THEIR 2002 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN.

Whereas, the Lady Warriors ended the season with an outstanding record of twenty-eight wins and three losses. Not only does this remarkable group of girls excels in athletics, but they excel in the classroom and in other extracurricular activities; and

Whereas, over half of the girls are in the top 25 percent of their class, with four girls who hold the number one, two, three, and four rank in their class. They take part in student government, Academic Team, yearbook staff, sophomore planning committee, cheerleading squad, and are members of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams; and

Whereas, led by Head Coach, Beth Griffin, and her Assistant Coaches, Tommy Patterson and Matt King, and Pitching Coach Mark Barfield, the 2002 Lady Warriors Softball Team roster included: Sa Keta Hood, Kimberly McClennen, Whitney Patterson, Amanda Boatwright, Beth Messer, Holly Martin, Kerrie King, Cynthia Campbell, Jessica Knox, Heather Langley, Kasey Moore, Ashley Harris, Lauren Weddington, and Erin Coley; and

Whereas, Head Coach Beth Griffin is in her fifth year and has coached her team to three consecutive State Championships. She was named the Lancaster News Coach of the Year and the Region Coach of the Year; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognize the Indian Land High School Softball Team for their many accomplishments on and off the field. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Indian Land High School Lady Warriors Softball Team on winning their fifth Class A State Championship Title in the last seven years and commend the hard work and determination of the players, coaches, staff, and other officials for their 2002 Class A State Championship win.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Indian Land High School Lady Warriors Softball Team.
