A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF OF ANDERSON MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN MOORE FOR BEING NAMED CAROLINA FIRST PALMETTO'S FINEST AS A PREMIER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE STATE, AND TO COMMEND PRINCIPAL DEBORAH C. PHILBECK FOR THE LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION SHE HAS PROVIDED TO THE SCHOOL.

Whereas, the Anderson Mill Elementary School motto, "Expect to be Impressed, Our Children are the Best", rang true as the school received the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Elementary School Award sponsored by Carolina First and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and

Whereas, the prestigious award, given to two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school across the State, was presented to Anderson Mill Elementary School during a ceremony at the Koger Center on Tuesday, March 11, 2003; and

Whereas, Deborah C. Philbeck, principal of Anderson Mill, allows her students many opportunities to develop academically as well as socially through participation in clubs and other stimulating activities. The children participate in Wee Care Community Service Projects, where they learn the meaning of giving back to the community; and

Whereas, Anderson Mill Elementary School has received numerous awards in recent years including the Exemplary Writing School Award, Exemplary Reading School Award, Palmetto Gold Award, and numerous faculty awards, among others; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives sincerely congratulate Anderson Mill Elementary School for its continued advancements and enhancements in education and for its recent impressive award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of Anderson Mill Elementary School in Moore for being named Carolina First Palmetto's Finest as a premier elementary school in the State and commend Principal Deborah C. Philbeck for the leadership and direction she has provided to the school.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Anderson Mill Elementary School in Moore.
