A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THE HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION OF THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF LEADING TO THEIR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Hillcrest High School Girls Softball Team ended the season with an outstanding undefeated season and a record of 34-0. They set two state records with seventy-four consecutive wins, which included an undefeated 2002 season as well, and a state record of twenty-eight shutouts in a season; and

Whereas, in addition to being Class AAAA State Champions, Hillcrest is also the 2003 Region 1 Class AAAA Champion and the Azalea Classic Champion; and

Whereas, under the exceptional leadership of Head Coach James Graves, and assistant coaches, Butch Clark and Larry Wooten, Hillcrest was able to continue to dominate Class AAAA; and

Whereas, the members of the record-breaking 2003 Hillcrest Girls Softball Team included: Megan Clark, Michelle Devita, Lea Aikens, Mariko Smith, Megan Toth, Kate Pouliot, Kellyn Henderson, Erica Simmons, Jamie Peoples, Carolyn Jackson, Ciara Glenn, Sarah Christopher, Kayla Bennett, and Amanda Williams; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to recognize and honor the Hillcrest High School Girls Softball Team for winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Hillcrest High School Girls Softball Team on winning the Class AAAA State Championship and commend the hard work and determination of the players, coaches, and staff leading to their state championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach James Graves.
