A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THAD O. STRICKLAND FOR HIS PERSONAL COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SERVICE AND THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS HE HAS MADE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND STATE AS OWNER AND PRESIDENT OF TN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN SPARTANBURG.

Whereas, Thad O. Strickland completed his education at South Georgia College and Georgia Tech and began his professional career with the Georgia State Highway Department where he was employed in the Bridge Design Department from 1961 until 1966; and,

Whereas, following several years of engineering work in Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas, Thad accepted the position of construction manager for Christman & Parsons, Inc., and he and his family moved to Spartanburg in 1972; and

Whereas, in 1978, he left his position as construction manager to start his own company in Spartanburg, TN Construction Company, Inc.; and

Whereas, TN Construction Company has distinguished itself in South Carolina's Upstate, specializing in design and building services for commercial and industrial construction with annual sales in excess of five million dollars; and

Whereas, since its founding, TN Construction Company has designed and built projects as diverse as warehouses, automobile dealerships, office buildings, banks, churches, retail shops, recreational buildings, distribution centers, industrial buildings, and custom homes; and

Whereas, Mr. Strickland's involvement in the Spartanburg area extends far beyond his professional duties and includes public service on the Board of Trustees of Spartanburg County School District No. 7, the Board of Trustees of the Daniel Morgan Vocational School, and service as chairman of the City of Spartanburg Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals; and

Whereas, he has also served in such civic and professional organizations as the Spartanburg Evening Lions Club where he has served as President, the Lions International District 32-A, Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg, and the Systems Builders Association, Carolinas Region, where he has served as President; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly fine man for his contributions to Spartanburg and South Carolina as a business and civic leader. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, commend Thad O. Strickland for his personal commitment to public service and the many contributions he has made to his community and State as owner and president of TN Construction Company in Spartanburg.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Thad O. Strickland.
