A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 39-1-55 SO AS TO REQUIRE ANY PERSON OR BUSINESS WHO SELLS AT RETAIL TO CLEARLY MARK EACH ITEM FOR SALE WITH AN ARABIC NUMERAL PRICE AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE PRICE MUST BE ON THE ITEM OR THE PACKAGE CONTAINING THE ITEM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 1, Title 39 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 39-1-55.    (A)    Any person or business who sells at retail is required to clearly mark each item for sale with an Arabic numeral price as follows:

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
