VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-32-100 SO AS TO CREATE A GRANT REVIEW PANEL FOR FUNDS RECEIVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FROM THE FEDERAL CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL, TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THE GRANT REVIEW PANEL, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE GRANT REVIEW PANEL SHALL ENSURE THAT THE FUNDS ARE ADMINISTERED PURSUANT TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH EDUCATION ACT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 32, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-32-100. (A) A grant review panel must be appointed to establish criteria for, review applications for, approve, and select recipients for grants, subgrants, contract, and subcontracts of funds received by the Department of Education from the Federal Center for Disease Control.
(B) The grant review panel shall consist of five members:
(1) two appointed by the Governor;
(2) one appointed by the State Board of Education;
(3) one appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate; and
(4) one appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
(C) The grant review panel shall ensure that a grant, subgrant, contract, or subcontract awarded from these funds is administered pursuant to this chapter."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
