A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND REVEREND T.E. SIMMONS, M. DIV., OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR TWENTY YEARS OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE AS PASTOR OF REEDY FORK MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN THE TOWN OF SIMPSONVILLE, AND TO WISH HIM AND HIS CONGREGATION CONTINUED GROWTH IN NUMBERS AND GOD'S GRACE.

Whereas, Reverend T. E. Simmons is a native of Aiken County and is the nineteenth child of the late Reverend J. J. Simmons and Effie Mae Toney Simmons; and

Whereas, he is married to Angela Carter Simmons and together they are the proud parents of three daughters; and

Whereas, Reverend Simmons is a 1975 graduate of Aiken High School, received his undergraduate degree from South Carolina State University in 1979, and is a 1990 graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Center-Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia; and

Whereas, he was called into the Gospel Ministry and licensed in July 1983 by the Summer Grove Baptist Church of Aiken County and the Reedy River Baptist Church of Mauldin; and

Whereas, in 1983 he was called to pastor the Reedy Fork Baptist Church of Simpsonville where he has served in this capacity for the past twenty years; and

Whereas, under his God-inspired leadership, the church's membership has increased by more than seventy-five percent, and the church has grown spiritually and financially with a physical complex worth more than 1.8 million dollars; and

Whereas, Reverend Simmons is an avid lover of horses, nature, and the outdoors. He is involved as a role model, volunteer storyteller, and plays an active role with numerous church and community associations, organizations, and conventions; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to take this opportunity to recognize Reverend Simmons as he, his family, congregation, and friends celebrate his many years of Christian service to his church and community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate and commend Reverend T. E. Simmons, M. Div., of Greenville County for twenty years of Christian service as Pastor of Reedy Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Simpsonville, and to wish him and his congregation continued growth in numbers and God's grace.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend T. E. Simmons.
