VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO HAMP LINDSEY OF SPARTANBURG UPON BEING NAMED THE 2004 RESTAURATEUR OF THE YEAR AND TO WISH HIM AND WADE'S RESTAURANT MUCH SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, Hamp Lindsey, the owner of Wade's Restaurant in Spartanburg, was named the 2004 Restaurateur of the Year by the Hospitality Association of South Carolina; and
Whereas, this prestigious award recognizes success in the hospitality industry and community involvement and will be presented to Mr. Lindsey in Myrtle Beach on January 27, 2004; and
Whereas, after graduating from Clemson, Hamp Lindsey took over the management of Wade's Restaurant from his parents in 1977, when he shifted the focus of the restaurant from a drive-in to the present more family-oriented, sit-down atmosphere serving meats and vegetables; and
Whereas, Mr. Lindsey credits his sister and co-owner of Wade's, Carole Lindsey Miller, along with the restaurant's one hundred and nine dedicated employees for his success; and
Whereas, Mr. Lindsey is active in his community as a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg, a board member of Spartanburg Food Rescue and the South Carolina Restaurant Association; and
Whereas, he is also a founder of the Piedmont Area Restaurant Association and was named its Restaurateur of the Year in 1992. He was awarded the 1993 Spartanburg Small Business Person of the Year, was runner-up for the South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year, and received the W.C. Hunter Award from the Easter Seal Society of South Carolina; and
Whereas, it is with great pleasure and admiration that the House of Representatives recognizes and honors an outstanding South Carolinian as Hamp Lindsey for his numerous accomplishments in the restaurant business and most notably for being named the South Carolina Restaurateur of the Year. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their congratulations to Hamp Lindsey of Spartanburg upon being named the 2004 Restaurateur of the Year and wish him and Wade's Restaurant much success in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Hamp Lindsey of Spartanburg.
