A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-71-10, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MEMBERS OF CERTAIN PROFESSIONAL COMMITTEES WHO ARE EXEMPT FROM TORT LIABILITY, SO AS TO ADD CRIMINAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS TO THE DEFINITION OF "PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY".

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 40-71-10(A) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(A)    'Professional society' as used in this chapter includes legal, medical, osteopathic, optometric, chiropractic, psychological, dental, accounting, pharmaceutic, criminal justice, and engineering organizations having as members at least a majority of the eligible licentiates in the area served by the particular society and any foundations composed of members of these societies."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
