AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 797 OF 1988, RELATING TO THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SCHOOL FOR SUMTER COUNTY, SO AS TO ADD A VOTING MEMBER TO THE CAREER CENTER BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Sumter County Career Center Board of Trustees
SECTION 1. Section 2 of SECTION 1 of Act 797 of 1988 is amended to read:
"Section 2. The board of trustees of the career center (the board) consists of two members each from the school boards of School Districts 17 and 2, to be designated by the respective boards, one member to be appointed by the Sumter County Legislative Delegation upon the recommendation of the Industrial Association of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, and two members to be appointed by the Sumter County Legislative Delegation to serve for terms of two years. Upon the expiration of the term of one member from each district first occurring after the effective date of this act, his successor must be appointed by the Sumter County Legislative Delegation. The terms of the members selected by the school board must be coterminous with their terms on the board which selects them. All members shall serve until their successors are selected which must be upon the expiration of their terms. The secretary of each board shall certify to the board the names of the persons selected, and a record must be kept in the office of the selections."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
