A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND REVEREND CALVIN ROBINSON, PASTOR OF THE BETHLEHEM BAPTIST CHURCH IN SALUDA, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS GLORIOUS SERVICE TO THE CHURCH AND TO HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Reverend Calvin Robinson was born in Trenton, South Carolina, on June 27, 1946, and is married to Doris Lee Robinson. They have been blessed with two sons, Lemuel and Jason, and two grandchildren, Dorian and Bashawn; and

Whereas, a graduate of W.E. Parker High School, Reverend Robinson also attended Augusta Technical College and A.B.T. Seminary Class at the American Baptist College in Augusta, Georgia; and

Whereas, Reverend Robinson went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1965 until 1968, and in the South Carolina National Guard from 1978 until 1984; and

Whereas, as a member of Science Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Edgefield County, Reverend Robinson faithfully served as a Vice Chairman of the Deacon Board, Vice President of the Senior Choir, President of Science Hill Male Chorus, a church bus driver, and a member of King Solomon's Lodge #222; and

Whereas, Reverend Robinson delivered his charismatic and compelling trial sermon on September 4, 1988, and was ordained into the Christian ministry on July 30, 1989; and

Whereas, in December of 1988, Reverend Robinson was elected Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Saluda where he has devotedly and enthusiastically served since his election; and

Whereas, a man who has passionately preached God's word, Reverend Robinson has demonstrated that he is a man who was "chosen by God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and covered by the blood of Jesus Christ" through his steadfast love for the Lord and for his fellow man; and

Whereas, Reverend Robinson gives his all to his family, his church family, and the communities in which he works, and through his preaching and teaching, many souls have come to know and love God; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure and admiration that the members of the General Assembly honor Reverend Calvin Robinson, a son of South Carolina who has faithfully worked in the vineyard God has given him. Now, therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Reverend Calvin Robinson, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Saluda, for his glorious service to the church and to his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend Calvin Robinson of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Saluda.
