VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL'S MODEL UNITED NATIONS TEAM ON ITS FIFTEENTH CONSECUTIVE INTERNATIONAL FIRST PLACE AWARD AT THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK CITY ON MARCH 20, 2004.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are immensely pleased to once again have the opportunity to recognize Richland Northeast High School for their incredible accomplishment in winning the National Model United Nations International first place award for the fifteenth consecutive year; and
Whereas this remarkable group of students participated in the Model United Nations Conference in New York City on March 20, 2004, the twenty-first time the school has participated in this event, and where more than 2,200 students from numerous states and foreign countries solved the world's problems during the conference; and
Whereas, the Richland Northeast delegation represented Mexico in this year's mock deliberations and also won one of the three research awards for their two hundred fifty-page position paper detailing their country's policies and solutions; and
Whereas, Ms. Lynn Washington, the sponsor-adviser for the team is a truly remarkable and extraordinary individual whose dedication, tireless efforts, and enthusiasm for guiding the students through this demanding but greatly rewarding experience is truly unparalleled ; and
Whereas, the students participate on the team on a strictly voluntary basis and each student's place on the team, which he or she competes for, is based on his or her particular talent and expertise; the Model United Nations emphasizes consensus-building and critical-thinking skills, and the students put in countless hours of study and preparation; and
Whereas, this year's victorious team consisted of Carlie Adams, Rose Akbari, Kristin Assey, Chelsey Boggs, Hannah Boggs, Shana Coshal, Emily Dean, Joey Dean, Anna Drake, Patrick Dunphy, Marina Emory, Brian Highsmith, Michael Kratsios, Julie Kriegshaber, Sarah Lloyd, Jessica Posner, Alex Rowland, Molly Sanders, Sarah Skinner, Allen Taylor, Rebecca Walden, and Joe Wilson; and
Whereas, it is proper and fitting that the members of the General Assembly pause in their deliberations to recognize such an outstanding group of young people who have brought enormous pride to Richland Northeast High School and to this great State through their unprecedented accomplishments at the National Model United Nations Conference. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Richland Northeast High School's Model United Nations Team on its fifteenth consecutive international first place award at the National High School Model United Nations Conference in New York City on March 20, 2004.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Richland Northeast High School Model United Nations Team and Ms. Lynn Washington, the team's sponsor-advisor.
