A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL "WILDCATS" BOYS TENNIS TEAM AND THE TEAM'S COACH, ROBBIE HUNTER, ON THEIR OUTSTANDING UNDEFEATED SEASON AND CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2004 CLASS AAAA BOYS TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE ON SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2004.

Whereas, participating in the sport of tennis affords young people the opportunity to learn unique athletic skills and to realize the importance of hard work and determination, both individually and as a team; and

Whereas, becoming a champion in this sport requires every member of the team and coaching staff to have superior physical abilities and special leadership skills; and

Whereas, using those talents, Head Coach Robbie Hunter and the members of the Lexington High School "Wildcats" Boys Tennis Team built a tradition of excellence winning the 2002 State Championship Title and completing the 2003 season with an impressive 22-1 record and finishing as runner-up in the 2003 Championship; and

Whereas, unwilling to accept less than the very best, the Wildcats ended the 2004 season with an awesome undefeated record of 24-0, with the perseverance and support of their coaches along the way, they achieved the status of the only undefeated team in Lexington High School's history; and

Whereas, on the heels of their incredibly successful season, the Lexington team went on to emerge victorious over the competitive Hilton Head team to recapture the State Championship Title; and

Whereas, the members of the 2004 Lexington High School "Wildcats" Boys Tennis Team are Wyatt Boyleston, Walker Garrison, Derek Dickey, Nick Chandler, Michael Parks, Kendell Hillis, Chris Peek, Ben Taylor, Reed Pimental, Jordan Hunter, Cory Pickens, and Barron Wells; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina General Assembly pauses to take notice of the superior physical and mental abilities of these young South Carolinians and challenge them to use the skills they have developed to achieve great things both inside and outside of the sports arena and to wish them much success in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize the Lexington High School "Wildcats" Boys Tennis Team and the team's coach, Robbie Hunter, on their outstanding undefeated season and congratulate them on winning the 2004 Class AAAA Boys Tennis Championship Title on Saturday, May 8, 2004.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Lexington High School "Wildcats" Boys Tennis Team and Coach Robbie Hunter.
