A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-150-375 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN HANDICAPPED STUDENTS MAY RECEIVE LOTTERY TUITION ASSISTANCE TO ATTEND CERTAIN OUT-OF-STATE INSTITUTIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 150, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-150-375.    A handicapped student, as defined in Section 59-33-20, who qualifies for lottery tuition assistance pursuant to Section 59-150-360 or Section 59-150-370, may receive lottery tuition assistance to attend an out-of-state institution that specializes in the student's particular handicap if the State Commission on Higher Education recommends that the out-of-state institution will benefit the student more than an in-state institution."
